The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) explained flood relief measures available through government and BMA applications. Volunteer engineer teams will conduct home damage surveys, alongside establishing four on-site command centers to prepare for increased rainfall from 11 to 14 October.
On 2 October 2026, Mr. Prinya Jantakup, Director of Water Quality Management, BMA Drainage Office, stated that the BMA will expedite flood relief measures. Registration can be done via government and BMA applications, with additional facilitation at all 50 BMA district offices for those unable to use apps. Assistance covers home repairs, temporary shelter, livelihood tools, medical expenses, funeral costs, and basic living expenses. Volunteer engineers and BMA teams will survey damaged homes to assess repair costs based on set criteria.
Mr. Prinya added that the BMA will establish four on-site command centers (ICP): Northern Bangkok at Don Mueang Airport or the upper canal area to manage water flowing from Pathum Thani Province; the Lat Krabang–Rom Klao zone with a permanent command center staffed by BMA executives authorized to make decisions until floodwaters recede; the Lat Krabang Road zone with a supplementary center at Soi Lat Krabang 100 and Suan Phra Nakhon to assist residents along flood-affected roads; and the Nong Chok zone, where a command center will oversee critical areas like the Flora Ville village and other communities still experiencing severe flooding.
When asked about plans for the expected increase in rainfall from 11 to 14 October, Mr. Prinya said the BMA maintains disaster relief centers at every district office to review response plans and provide assistance and recovery. Alerts will be sent via Cell Broadcast for incidents, with preparations for evacuating residents and goods, supporting vulnerable groups, updating temporary shelter information, real-time vehicle parking options, and coordinating comprehensive aid such as food and relief supplies distribution.
Regarding the World Bank meeting scheduled from 11 to 14 October, Mr. Prinya stated that the BMA has developed response plans focusing on flood prevention and mitigation in event areas, particularly around the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Khlong Toei District and nearby locations.
