Minister Prasert Discusses School Safety, Rights, Emphasizes All for Education Principle

The Minister of Education met with the National Human Rights Commission to collaborate on advancing school safety, online threats, hair rights, education for migrant children, and administrative staff issues, adhering to the 'All for Education' principle, and discussed these key topics.

On 2 Oct 2026 13:30 GMT+7, Mr. Prasert Chantraruangthong, Minister of Education, along with Mr. Wallop Rujirakorn, Secretary to the Minister, held a meeting with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) led by Mr. Wasan Phailiklee, NHRC commissioner, and other members. Also present were Deputy Secretary-General of the Ministry of Education, Associate Professor Prawit Erawan, and senior Ministry executives at the Rajawanlop Meeting Room.

The Minister stated that today’s discussion covered multiple educational issues, including enhancing safety in schools. The Ministry has implemented seven strict measures such as screening individuals, sharp objects, and illegal items. It established the "Center for the Protection of Rights, Freedom, and Safety in Educational Institutions," operating through three main mechanisms: prevention, incident reporting, and investigation with remediation. Additionally, real-time safety reports can be submitted via the Traffy Fondue LINE application. Severe disciplinary action will be taken against administrators who conceal information.

They also discussed protecting children from online risks and artificial intelligence (AI). Plans are underway to push for amendments to the criminal code to penalize online threats against children, develop international AI frameworks, set screen time limits, and hold talks with social media platform owners to prevent bullying. Regarding children’s hair rights, the Ministry firmly prohibits shaving students’ hair and encourages schools to involve students in jointly determining hair regulations.

"Regarding education for refugee children in temporary shelters, the Ministry follows the 'All for Education' principle, admitting camp children immediately upon approval. Plans include launching a registration system for Migrant Learning Centers (MLCs). Simultaneously, employment forms for administrative teachers and janitors will be made more secure, alongside better management of small schools to enhance education quality. Both parties will continue to collaborate to monitor progress and effectively implement these policies," the Minister said.
