The Royal Gazette published a proclamation that His Majesty the King has decreed the reduction in rank of Major General Jakrapong Sa-la to Colonel and relieved him from his duties as a royal guard, and also reduced Major Nopparat Sathorn to Captain.
On 2 October 2026, the Royal Gazette website published a proclamation about the rank reductions of military officers in the royal household and their release from royal guard duties. It stated that His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun has graciously ordered the rank reductions and relief from duties as royal guards.
Exercising the authority under Section 15 of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, B.E. 2560 (2017), together with Sections 4 and 9 of the Act on the Administration of the Royal Household, B.E. 2560 (2017), Sections 10, 13, and 15 of the Royal Decree on the Organization and Personnel Management of the Royal Household, B.E. 2560 (2017), Section 12 of the Military Rank Act, B.E. 2479 (1936), and Sections 6, 9, and 13 of the Royal Guard Act, B.E. 2480 (1937).
Therefore, His Majesty has graciously ordered that Major General Jakrapong Sa-la, who served as Commander of the 21st King’s Guard Infantry Regiment, King's Guard, Royal Security Command (rank of Major General), be reassigned as an operational officer in the office of the Deputy Commander of the Royal Security Command (rank of Colonel), and be relieved from his duties as a royal guard.
This change has been effective since 24 September 2026.
The proclamation was issued on 30 September 2026, the 11th year of the current reign.
In addition, the Royal Gazette website also published another proclamation regarding the rank reduction of military officers in the royal household. It stated that His Majesty has graciously ordered the reduction of rank of a military officer, exercising authority under Section 15 of the 2017 Constitution, Sections 4 and 9 of the Act on the Administration of the Royal Household, Sections 10, 13, and 15 of the Royal Decree on the Organization and Personnel Management of the Royal Household, and Section 12 of the Military Rank Act of 1936.
Accordingly, His Majesty has graciously ordered the reduction of rank of Major Nopparat Sathorn to Captain.
This change has been effective since 24 September 2026.
