Today, 10 Water Pumps Relocated from Nakhon Nayok to Assist Flood Relief in Samut Songkhram

General Dul Boonthamcharoen, Minister of Defense, revealed that today 10 water pumps will be relocated from Nakhon Nayok to assist flood relief in Samut Songkhram. He emphasized the Ministry of Defense's readiness to support resources in all aspects for post-flood recovery.


At 10:20 a.m. on 5 Oct 2026 GMT+7. General Dul Boonthamcharoen, Minister of Defense. He was interviewed regarding the request from Mr. Chayachai Saeng-in, Governor of Samut Songkhram, for water pumps to help alleviate flooding along the Mae Klong River. Currently, the Navy has about 90 water pumps stationed as follows: 16 in Bangkok, 30 in Nakhon Nayok, 20 in Chachoengsao, and 24 in Samut Prakan. Regarding Samut Songkhram’s request, he has spoken with Nakhon Nayok province and will relocate 10 water pumps there today to help push water out to the sea.

When asked if these pumps would be sufficient, General Dul said he supports requests from provinces, the Royal Irrigation Department, Bangkok Drainage Office, and related agencies involved with water pumps. Since the Ministry of Defense does not have expertise in water management, it simply provides equipment as requested by expert agencies like the National Water Resources Office, the Royal Irrigation Department, or affected provinces.

Regarding the flood situation in Bangkok, the Defense Minister said efforts are ongoing to expedite drainage to the Gulf of Thailand. Today, he plans to visit Flora Ville village in Nong Chok, following requests. Conditions elsewhere are improving, moving toward recovery processes including big cleaning efforts that require community cooperation.

When asked if the military is ready to assist all requests, General Dul replied that support will be based on reason. If requests are made and equipment is available, they will support all matters, including personnel and military equipment funded by taxpayers.
