Senator Wuttipong Angry at Ministers and Prime Minister for Ignoring Senate Flood Inquiry

Senator Wuttipong expressed anger that ministers and the Prime Minister ignored the Senate's flood inquiry. He urged them to wake up from their party-like complacency, saying that if they cannot solve the problems, they should step down.

At 11:00 a.m. on 5 Oct 2026 at the Parliament, Lieutenant Wuttipong Pongsuwan, a senator, called on the Prime Minister and ministers to answer Senate questions, especially regarding flood management. He said he raised this inquiry last week and again this week. Although there are many plans to address flooding, past decisions have repeatedly failed. Today, the Interior Minister assigned Deputy Interior Minister Jeseth Thaiseth to respond, but he was also absent due to other commitments. He noted that the Interior Ministry has several deputy ministers, any of whom could have come just to explain how relief would be provided. For flood victims, what they want is not food boxes or cash handouts, but clear information about when floodwaters will recede, how relief will be managed, and when they will receive aid.

Lieutenant Wuttipong added that pumping and pushing floodwaters away is urgently needed, and people expect the government to specify how many days it will take for water levels to drop. He dismissed claims of insufficient pumping equipment as unbelievable, saying such equipment is widely available. If the government declared the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Act, it could mobilize personnel and tools from all provinces. The Prime Minister would serve as commander, and since the law already exists, it only needs to be enacted to allow use of these resources.

"Everyone is suffering. Prime Minister, ministers, and administrators, please wake up from your dreams and the party you attended yesterday (4 Oct). If you don’t wake up, I urge the public to loudly demand that you exercise your legal powers. If you cannot, then step down," he said. Lieutenant Wuttipong concluded.
