Surasak Leads Team to Flooded Ayutthaya, Distributes Survival Bags and Visits Bedridden Patients

Surasak, accompanied by Songpol, MPs from Ayutthaya representing the Bhumjaithai Party, led efforts in flood-hit Ayutthaya by distributing survival bags and visiting bedridden patients. They promoted the Chai Nat-Pasak-Gulf of Thailand project as a long-term flood solution following Cabinet approval.

5 Oct 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Surasak Pancharoenworakun, Minister of Tourism and Sports, together with Mr. Songpol Suksomboon, Member of Parliament for Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, and their team visited the area to encourage and listen to the concerns of the local residents, while distributing survival bags to flood victims in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya district.

Mr. Surasak said the Prime Minister is deeply concerned about all citizens affected by the flooding and has instructed ministers and MPs to visit affected areas to provide aid and hear their feedback. Today, he joined Mr. Songpol to deliver survival bags to residents at Ahmadi Mosque in Pak Kran Subdistrict and Farouk Umarobul Kottob Al-Gadriya Mosque in Ban Pom Subdistrict, both in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya district. Additionally, they planned to visit bedridden patients at Wat Klang Khlong Takian in Pak Kran Subdistrict to offer encouragement and survival bags.

“I understand that if given a choice, no one wants their home to flood. Today, it is encouraging that the Cabinet approved the Chai Nat-Pasak-Gulf of Thailand water drainage project to provide a long-term solution to flooding. The project will span eight years, from 2027 to 2034, and has been evaluated as economically worthwhile. It will reduce significant damage, lessen agricultural losses in central Thailand, and alleviate hardships for residents in water-receiving areas like Ang Thong and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya.”

“On behalf of the Prime Minister, I bring his concern to the people. The Prime Minister has ordered full care and comprehensive surveys to assist all affected citizens. For areas with patients requiring ongoing medication, coordination with local hospitals will be ensured to facilitate treatment. Another key issue is post-flood relief, for which government agencies must expedite paperwork to ease assistance for all citizens.”
