Minister Prasert Orders Action Against 4 Private Vocational Schools for Misusing Student Loan Rights, Warns Officials Involved

Education Minister Prasert ordered action against four private vocational schools for falsely claiming student loan rights from the Student Loan Fund (SLF). He warned that if any government officials are found involved, they will face severe consequences. He also instructed schools to urgently survey flood damage and seek budget support for repairs during the school holiday period.

At 12:45 p.m. on 6 October 2026 at the Government House, Education Minister Prasert Chantraruangthong spoke about schools damaged by the recent floods. He said that surveys found 1,096 schools across 34 provinces affected nationwide, including both state-supervised and private schools. Private schools affected are also eligible to apply for support as the damage was unforeseen.

Minister Prasert stated that the Office of the Basic Education Commission has already approved a budget of 23 million baht distributed to about 200 education service areas, but this is insufficient. Therefore, he urged a rapid survey of damages to compile figures for budget requests to carry out repairs during the school closure period.

When asked about the estimated value of damages, Minister Prasert said he had instructed each affected school to assess and request central budget support for repairing equipment and materials. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister has ordered the establishment of assistance centers in all affected areas and repair centers to fix damaged equipment to aid affected people.

Order to take legal action against four private vocational schools for misusing student loan rights from the Student Loan Fund.

Minister Prasert also addressed the case of vocational institutions fraudulently claiming student loans from the Student Loan Fund (SLF). He said investigations have been conducted and related agencies have been directed to take legal action. Initially, four private vocational schools were identified for submitting false information inconsistent with facts. If any government officials are found involved, strict legal action will follow immediately. Any misappropriated budget disbursed illegally must be fully recovered, and all involved parties will be held accountable.
