Sasikarn expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Anutin for accepting Attawit's proposal and ordering the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning to study Bueng Khu Bon. She revealed that RTSC is ready to provide useful information and supports advancing flood and drought mitigation reservoirs across the country.
On 7 Oct 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Sasikarn Wattanajan, spokesperson for the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party (RTSC), stated that following Mr. Attawit Suwanpakdee, RTSC party-list MP, submitting a proposal regarding the Bueng Khu Bon water retention basin to Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul—who oversees the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning—the RTSC, as part of the coalition government, is ready to assist and collaborate with relevant agencies, especially the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning under the Ministry of Interior, to reintegrate the project into the new draft of Bangkok's master plan. The RTSC thanked the Prime Minister for prioritizing this issue and noted that he has already instructed the department to continue studying it. At least now, the Bueng Khu Bon matter has moved beyond mere questions to enter the consideration process by relevant agencies.
Furthermore, the party proposed that the Prime Minister consider advancing the expansion of water retention areas and flood mitigation reservoirs nationwide. Given that flood problems persist, mere water drainage is insufficient; there must be areas to hold and delay water, especially in Bangkok, where water retention areas have decreased due to urban expansion. Therefore, all projects with potential should be re-examined based on data and benefits to the public. Flooding causes public hardship and should transcend political colors or parties; instead, there should be a serious responsible party. The Bueng Khu Bon issue is another matter RTSC is ready to fight for and push forward on behalf of the people to find genuine solutions to flood problems, Ms. Sasikarn said.
