Pakorn Unconcerned About Being Named Among 18 Ministers Facing No-Confidence Debate, Confident of Innocence, Denies Favoring Bhumjaithai

Pakorn said he is not concerned about the opposition's no-confidence motion and is confident he has done nothing wrong. He believes such motions should be based on clear reasons, not vague accusations. He asserted that his role is to support the country, not to protect the Bhumjaithai Party, and has stated previously that he will leave once his mission is complete.

At 08:20 on 9 Oct 2026 GMT+7, Pakorn Nilprapunt, Deputy Prime Minister for Legal Affairs, gave an interview at the Government House regarding his inclusion among the 18 names in the opposition's motion for a no-confidence debate. He expressed the view that a no-confidence debate and its allegations are normal, but the accusations should specify what can be clarified. If the allegations are vague, it is difficult to respond. He said he could not even figure out what to answer after reading the accusations against him.

Pakorn added that in a democracy, discussions should be based on clear reasons. Otherwise, they become baseless accusations. When explaining or debating, people gain nothing from vague claims. Democracy requires reason, not emotions or unfounded accusations. This is his feeling, as he noted that parliamentary sessions in Singapore or Australia are not so vague.

When asked about opposition claims of conflicts of interest benefiting allies, Pakorn emphasized that they must explain how conflicts of interest exist and how allies are favored. If such claims are vague, he can likewise ask if the accusers themselves benefit allies with baseless statements. He questioned whether it is appropriate to accuse someone arbitrarily to damage or favor others, calling such behavior improper.

When asked if his legal work might create loopholes favoring the Bhumjaithai Party, Pakorn responded, that his duty is to prevent the government from breaking the law, and the Prime Minister has reminded him of this from the start. Therefore, if something is illegal, he tells them not to do it. He questioned whether this makes him a support for the government or for the country.

When asked directly whom he supports, Pakorn said, if he is a support, it is for the country. When wrongdoing occurs, the Prime Minister sends him to investigate. He knows everyone involved but believes that any civil, criminal, disciplinary, or administrative accusations must be backed by evidence. If there is evidence, it must be referred to the relevant agencies for proper action and investigation. For example, in the local exam corruption case, they have forwarded the case to the National Anti-Corruption Commission, the Anti-Corruption Police Division, and the Ministry of Interior, which follow up monthly on progress.

Pakorn added that he is not a member of the Bhumjaithai Party. The party includes Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who invited him to serve, and he must perform his duties. He reiterated that he is not a party member but will explain issues if the Bhumjaithai Party invites him for briefings or questions, though he does not visit often. He also revealed that he is not worried about being named among the 18 ministers facing a no-confidence debate. He remains calm and confident because he has done nothing wrong and has said from the start that he will leave once his mission is complete. .
