The Prime Minister held a meeting on flood situation monitoring on 11 October, expressing gratitude to all agencies as the first wave of flooding begins to normalize. He called for urgent recovery and relief transfers, urging Chachoengsao and Prachinburi to fully mobilize efforts and ordered vigilance and readiness to handle new rainfall waves.
At 09:00 hrs on 10 October 2026, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul chaired a meeting of the National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command Center (NDPMCC) to monitor the flood situation and assistance efforts on the 11th consecutive day. Defense Minister General Udom Boonmtha Charoen, Deputy Minister of Interior Jesada Chaiyachart, related agencies, and provincial governors nationwide participated via remote conference.
The Prime Minister said that although today is a public holiday, they continue to perform duties in the NDPMCC meeting to monitor flood management issues and assist affected citizens. Today is an important time because the initial wave of floodwaters in affected areas is expected to have returned to normal. Only a few locations remain disadvantaged due to their geography or ground level. Relevant agencies have focused on addressing these specific problems. He urged provincial governors, especially in Chachoengsao and Prachinburi, to fully mobilize forces to assist residents in areas where water drainage remains insufficient. He emphasized the need for full efforts as water levels elsewhere have mostly subsided.
As previously stated, flood situations bring certain difficulties. After waters recede, preparations must continue to help citizens return home safely, manage accumulated waste from flooding, conduct thorough cleaning of roads and public spaces, and closely monitor diseases or symptoms resulting from the flood over time.
He also requested all parties to prepare comprehensively—caring for citizens, restoring cleared areas, providing medical treatment for flood-related illnesses, and especially preparing for new rainfall waves and water management. This requires seamless coordination among all units to ensure citizens can return home safely, while managing waste, power systems, public utilities, and transportation routes.
Regarding relief assistance, it must proceed swiftly. There is now a clear directive to expedite transferring relief funds to affected citizens immediately upon receiving reports from the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM). He urged provinces to review eligible recipients, conduct surveys promptly, and send lists to DDPM as soon as possible.
The Prime Minister added that all agencies must closely monitor the situation during this period. Weather forecasts indicate the need for vigilance in 14 southern provinces, as well as Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan provinces. He called for thorough preparation and coordination among all agencies across all aspects.
This afternoon, he and the Minister of Interior (Region 3) will attend the royal ceremony where His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen will present honors and awards to the Provincial Islamic Committees and outstanding imams in Pattani province. He will use this opportunity before the ceremony to convene a meeting with governors from Pattani and neighboring provinces. The Ministry of Interior has scheduled meetings with several governors, especially from the south, to share plans and seek their support.
At the end, the Prime Minister reiterated, his sincere thanks to all agencies continuing to monitor operations and coordinate fully to ensure citizens receive the utmost care and convenience. .
