Akniti led the Thai side in signing an MoU with Luxembourg’s Finance Minister to expand cooperation in finance and capital markets, covering sustainable finance, FinTech, and digital assets, while promoting knowledge exchange and investment opportunities between the two countries.
On 14 October 2026 at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Dr. Akniti Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, represented Thailand in signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Finance of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Ministry of Finance of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg alongside Gilles Roth, Luxembourg’s Minister of Finance, during the 2026 IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings.
The MoU aims to strengthen cooperation in financial services between the two countries, covering sustainable finance, FinTech, mutual funds, capital markets, banking, and insurance. It also includes exchanging experiences in financial innovation and regulations to promote the development of an efficient financial sector capable of adapting to economic changes.
Under this cooperation, both parties will promote the exchange of information and knowledge, organize training and seminars to enhance financial personnel capabilities, and seek opportunities to encourage joint investment activities. This will increase connectivity between Thailand's and Luxembourg's financial sectors and capital markets, serving as gateways linking ASEAN and European financial and capital markets.
This collaboration marks an important step in elevating financial relations between the two countries and supports the development of Thailand’s capital market to connect more closely with international financial markets, thereby enhancing fundraising and investment opportunities to support Thailand’s long-term economic growth.
