“Pradorn” Confirms 3-Day Opposition No-Confidence Debate Is Adequate, Unfazed by “Korn” Claiming a Knockout Punch

Minister Pradorn confirmed that the opposition's no-confidence debate lasting just three days is appropriate and expressed no concern over Korn's claim of having a knockout argument against the government, stating the government is waiting to hear it and is ready to respond.

At 07:50 on 16 October 2026 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Mr. Pradorn Prissanantakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office and Cabinet coordinator, spoke about the progress of coordination with the House regarding the no-confidence debate. He said the Speaker is currently reviewing the content of the no-confidence motion to ensure it complies with the constitution. Once this review is complete, it will be sent to the Cabinet Secretary for inclusion on the Cabinet meeting agenda to set official dates before returning it to the House. So far, the Cabinet has not yet been contacted about this. Regarding scheduling, discussions with the opposition are needed. However, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has informed the Cabinet that there is a gap between 27-29 October, as a special Cabinet meeting is scheduled for 26 October. The period from 27-29 October is reserved for the opposition's debate, with voting planned for 30 October, before Prime Minister Anutin departs abroad. Upon his return, he will attend the World Horticultural Exposition in Udon Thani. The following week, he has duties at the 33rd APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting and the 48th ASEAN Summit, making the three-day period suitable for the debate.

When asked whether the government would limit the opposition to just three days of debate instead of the five days requested, Mr. Pradorn said the timeframe is limited but sees three days as neither too much nor too little. Regarding recent comments from the People’s Party and particularly from Mr. Korn Chatikavanij, Deputy Leader of the Democrat Party, who claimed to have a knockout argument to defeat the government during the debate, Mr. Pradorn said they will wait to hear the debate. The no-confidence motion certainly includes accusations against the government, the Prime Minister, and 17 ministers. If there is any evidence or substantial information in those accusations, he believes all ministers are ready to respond to every charge.
