Sophon Unconcerned About Managing Parliamentary Sessions, Emphasizes Respect for Rules and Constructive Debate

Sophon declared he is not worried about managing the parliamentary sessions, emphasizing that all parties must respect the regulations. He pointed out that debates must be constructive and beneficial to the public, not driven by emotional and meaningless political retaliation.

On 16 Oct 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that on 15 Oct, Sophon Sarum, Speaker of the Parliament and House of Representatives, spoke after presiding over the launch of the Kick Off project “Reduce Belly Fat, Reduce Disease, Healthy Life, Livable Nation” under the activity “90-Day Challenge to Change, Reduce Belly Fat, Reduce Disease” at the multipurpose dome of the Village Health Volunteer Club in Lam Plai Mat District, Buriram Province. Regarding his approach to managing parliamentary sessions amid a charged political atmosphere and important agenda deliberations, he affirmed he does not feel burdened or pressured in his role as Speaker, as he believes there are clear frameworks and guidelines in place.

Sophon stated that the most important factor in driving the work of the legislature is that all members, both government and opposition, must strictly respect and follow the House of Representatives' meeting regulations. If everyone adheres to the shared rules, procedures, and regulations, the sessions can proceed smoothly and effectively.

Additionally, the Speaker emphasized the content of parliamentary debates, noting that the House of Representatives is the platform representing the people. Therefore, all debates and opinions must be based on creativity and truthful information. Most importantly, every word and action must truly reflect the benefit of the nation and its citizens, rather than being driven by emotions or meaningless political retaliation.
