Minister Supamas Highlights Consumer Protection Achievements: Over 7 Million Baht Returned, 50 Lawsuits Filed, 9 Flood Relief Measures Launched

Minister Supamas highlights the Consumer Protection Board's two-month performance, returning over 7 million baht to consumers, filing 50 additional lawsuits, and advancing nine flood relief measures.

On 19 Oct 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Supamas Isarapakdi, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, revealed after chairing the 6/2569 Consumer Protection Committee meeting at Room 302, Government House Building 1, that from August to September 2026, the Consumer Protection Board successfully mediated over 50 disputes, resulting in more than 7 million baht compensated to consumers. The Board also proceeded with lawsuits on behalf of consumers and coordinated aid for flood victims to alleviate hardship and protect citizens' rights.

Ms. Supamas stated that this meeting reviewed 68 complaints, resolving to file 50 civil lawsuits on behalf of consumers: 30 cases related to online goods, 10 to real estate, 7 to general products, and 3 to services. Issues addressed include online purchases, breached condominium and land sales contracts, abandoned home construction projects, electric vehicle reservations, vehicle warranty contracts, fitness memberships, and study and overseas tours. She ordered the Board to expedite enforcement of these decisions and closely monitor each case to ensure victims promptly receive justice.

Furthermore, during these two months, the Board initiated criminal proceedings against more than 76 business operators violating laws, imposing fines totaling 1.78 million baht. Enforcement efforts have recovered over 880,000 baht returned to consumers, demonstrating comprehensive work from complaint intake, mediation, litigation, to follow-up to ensure victim compensation.

Ms. Supamas added that flood victim assistance through nine measures has progressed in vehicle towing and recovery, car repairs, financial loans, insurance, manufacturer initiatives, vehicle rentals, housing rentals, home and appliance repairs, and complaint handling. These focus on reducing post-flood restoration costs and preventing exploitation of affected citizens.

Assistance outcomes include collaboration with related agencies to remove 34 stranded and submerged vehicles at Romklao Housing Estate on 7 Oct. The Central Garage Insurance Association offers free repair estimates, 20% discounts on paint labor, and one-year paint quality guarantees. Several car manufacturers provide discounts on spare parts, labor, and inspections under their respective terms.

Regarding home and appliance restoration, 10,185 people have used HomePro's assistance programs, which include free appliance repairs valued up to 1,600 baht, over 1,200 discounted home care service slots for flood recovery, and Samsung's free inspection and labor-free repairs with 50% discounts on parts for flood-damaged appliances and phones, per company policies. Additionally, realme offers free repairs for some models and parts discounts; OPPO provides battery replacement starting at 400 baht; Thai Watsadu offers discounts on flood recovery supplies; and Power Buy accepts old appliances for trade-in discounts up to 10,000 baht, all per company conditions.

"The public must receive genuine assistance that effectively reduces burdens, including refunds when exploited and reduced repair costs for homes and vehicles post-flood. I have instructed the Consumer Protection Board to continuously monitor relief efforts and vigilantly prevent any exploitation that worsens victims' situations, ensuring people have support and justice," Ms. Supamas concluded.
