Lt. Gen. Adul Prepares for No-Confidence Debate, Unfazed by Links to Newin

Lt. Gen. Adul is ready to face the opposition's onslaught in the no-confidence debate, urging them to ask constructive questions without slander. He is preparing to consult with his team to anticipate questions and affirms he is ready to answer all issues without concern about being linked to Newin.

At 12:25 on 20 Oct 2026 GMT+7 at the Government House, Lt. Gen. Adul Boonthamcharoen, Minister of Defense, spoke about forming a task force chaired by Air Chief Marshal Prapas Sonjaidee, director of the Thai-Cambodia Situation Information Center (JIC), to prepare for the no-confidence debate. He said they must prepare information to clarify to the opposition. He is not worried because his work has followed laws and the constitution. It depends on what the opposition asks, and he will answer with facts. Since this is his first no-confidence debate, thorough preparation is needed, but he is confident because he has emphasized transparency and accountability.

When asked if the opposition might link military procurement projects, especially submarine and frigate acquisitions, Lt. Gen. Adul said he is ready to explain based on facts and evidence. Both projects began before he took office, so he needs to review the documents. Regarding the situation in the three southern border provinces, he said he can answer fully as part of the government's special delegation. He welcomes parliamentary scrutiny, seeing it as positive and promoting transparency. He urged the opposition to ask based on facts and avoid slander, which is unconstructive. If the opposition has doubts, he will respond with facts.

Regarding possible links to Newin Chidchob, chairman of Buriram United Football Club, following opposition allegations of political favoritism, Lt. Gen. Adul said he is waiting for questions first and is not worried. He has served all his life without complaints, investigations, or problems. He noted that this period is the Buddhist Lent end when monks must ordain, so he understands the need to accept offerings.

When asked again if the task force was specifically set up for the no-confidence debate, Lt. Gen. Adul replied it was not to that extent. He is the one answering questions, not Air Chief Marshal Prapas, but they do need to consult internally as a team.
