Deputy Minister of Interior Vorasit revealed close monitoring of water conditions in the South, with personnel and machinery already prepared. He acknowledged that while weather cannot be controlled, assistance to the public must be swift.
At 10:50 a.m. on 21 Oct 2026 GMT+7 at the Government House, Mr. Vorasit Liangprasit, Deputy Minister of Interior and member of the committee for flood and drought prevention and mitigation in southern areas, spoke about the water situation in Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province. Currently, especially in 14 southern provinces, a war room has been set up to monitor the situation closely every day, checking water levels two to three times daily. Key economic areas like Hat Yai District and Songkhla city have agencies overseeing response and conducting drills according to the standard operating procedures (SOP) for flood management. Preparations of personnel and machinery are underway. The Department of Local Administration has compiled a nationwide machinery database, so whenever incidents occur and support is needed, equipment can be promptly deployed to the area.
"Basically, if an incident occurs today, we cannot stop the weather, but when it happens, we must be able to assist the people as quickly as possible," Mr. Vorasit said.
