Chanapat, Kla Tham MP, Avoids Comment After Additional 44 Million Baht Asset Freeze by Anti-Money Laundering Office

Chanapat Naksua walked past a crowd of reporters, pretending to be on a phone call to avoid answering questions about the Anti-Money Laundering Office freezing an additional 44 million baht in assets, saying he needed to go sign in for a meeting first.

At 15:05 on 21 Oct 2026, reporters at the parliament were waiting to attend a three-party whip meeting concerning a no-confidence debate agreement, when the following occurred. Chanapat Naksua, Member of Parliament for Songkhla from the Kla Tham Party, happened to walk by and, upon seeing the crowd of reporters, pretended to be on a phone call as he pushed through the throng and moved to the other side.

When asked about the Anti-Money Laundering Office ordering an additional 44 million baht asset freeze in the online gambling case—following three previous seizures—Chanapat merely smiled at reporters but did not answer. Reporters continued to ask, whether this new asset freeze affected his morale. Chanapat said he preferred to provide information later, as he was about to attend a meeting and needed to sign in first.

Reporters pressed if his morale remained strong in performing his duties as an MP. Chanapat replied, "I want to answer, but I’m afraid I’ve run out for now. I’ll answer later."
