Anutin Advises Abhisit to Preserve His Great Past, Calls for Respectful and Constructive Discourse

Anutin advises Abhisit to preserve his great past for people to remember after Abhisit claimed the government disrespected parliament regarding the timeframe for the no-confidence debate. He affirms respect for everyone and urges constructive speech without jabs, instructing ministers to provide clear, focused explanations without excessive detail.

At 12:40 PM on 22 Oct 2026 at the Thai Khu Fah Building, Government House, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul spoke about the timeframe for the no-confidence debate under Section 151 of the Constitution. He said coordination on the debate date is ongoing, with a whip meeting scheduled today (22 Oct) at 2:00 PM where time allocations remain under discussion. He stated that if the opposition needs more time, the cabinet is willing to give its time to the opposition to maximize their debating time. He emphasized that ministers have been instructed to provide concise, clear, and direct explanations without overwhelming detail. Therefore, contrary to Abhisit Vejjajiva's claim that the government disrespects parliament, Anutin said this is impossible because he respects everyone, not just parliament. Ministers answer questions directly without unnecessary words. Thus, if extra time is needed for the opposition, the government is happy to provide it, demonstrating respect and cooperation.

"We should not speak sarcastically or mockingly. Creating such a culture is harmful. We are all senior figures of the country with a great past, and we should preserve that for people to remember and serve as a model. Nowadays, whenever someone speaks, there are always snide remarks and jabs. The younger generation observes this, and we do not want our country to develop such a culture. Instead, we want all discourse to be constructive. We have already given full cooperation," the prime minister said.
