Pongsakorn Criticizes Forgetfulness, Mocks Anutin as the Source of Undermining No-Confidence Debate

The Democrat Party spokesman retorted that Prime Minister Anutin is the root cause of undermining the "no-confidence debate," emphasizing that the opposition and Abhisit maintain the oversight mechanism under the parliamentary democratic system.

At 15:30 on 22 Oct 2026 at the parliament, Pongsakorn Kwanmuang, Democrat Party spokesman, addressed the case of Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul responding to Democrat Party leader Abhisit's statement that the Prime Minister belittled the opposition's no-confidence debate. He urged the Prime Minister to keep good memories and not focus on snide remarks, advising him to recall that he first said the opposition requested the no-confidence debate because they had nothing else to do. This overlooks the constitutional intent, as the no-confidence debate is a vital mechanism to scrutinize government administration in a democratic system. It allows the government to be informed of shortcomings and public grievances, leading to administrative improvements. If explanations fail, citizens and parliament members have the right to express no confidence through this process.

He emphasized that in many cases when the opposition presents suspicious or corrupt practices, the Prime Minister responds by calling it political revenge due to election loss. He warned the Prime Minister against forgetfulness, as such behavior devalues politicians' duties and sets inappropriate political norms for society and future generations. The Democrat Party leader aims to protect constitutional processes and politicians' dignity within the parliamentary system.
