Kla Tham Party Emphasizes Open Door to Coalition Government Thammanat Urges Unity

Attakorn emphasized that the Kla Tham Party has never closed the door on joining a coalition government. After Prime Minister Anutin joined in wishing a Chiang Mai MP happy birthday, he revealed that Lt. Col. Thammanat instructed party members that wherever they go, they go together; as for where they will go next, that will be known in due time.

On 22 Oct 2026, Attakorn Sirilattayakorn, MP for Chachoengsao and spokesperson for the Kla Tham Party, addressed the Prime Minister Anutin Chanvirakul's attendance at a Chiang Mai MP's birthday yesterday. He said he was present in the room but did not speak with the Prime Minister, who likely came to talk with Lt. Col. Thammanat Prompao, the party leader and party-list MP.

When asked if people interpreted the event as a sign that Kla Tham would join the government, Attakorn said it was more like acquaintances visiting each other. The incident happened after the parliamentary session ended. After adjournment, the Kla Tham MPs invited Lt. Col. Thammanat to wish the Chiang Mai MP a happy birthday. The Prime Minister came by during that time, so they spoke casually; it was not a surprise meeting.

Asked whether the atmosphere was uplifting when the Prime Minister visited, making Kla Tham MPs feel encouraged, Attakorn said he did not know, but the party members were probably happy, especially the birthday honoree to have such a prominent national figure present to offer birthday wishes.

Attakorn also addressed speculation that the event signaled a positive political move. He said there was no need to ask him further as he had repeatedly stated that the Kla Tham Party has never closed its door to coalition talks.

When asked how Lt. Col. Thammanat has instructed party members, Attakorn said Thammanat has consistently emphasized that wherever the Kla Tham Party goes, they go together. When pressed on where they would ultimately go, Attakorn said he was about to head to office 202 to continue legal discussions. When asked again about plans after the debate, Attakorn declined to say, adding that they would find out together.
