The Prime Minister revealed that the Cabinet will discuss reducing the excise tax on oil to address the problem of high fuel prices on 27 October. He pointed out that this is due to fluctuating crude oil prices and stressed the need for a transition to minimize reliance on crude oil.
At 07:30 on 24 October 2026 at Sanam Luang, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul commented on the impact of rising fuel prices on the public. He said that on Tuesday, 27 October, the Cabinet will consider excise tax on E20 fuel and try to find ways to reduce prices. The fuel price issue is a result of volatile crude oil costs. This is why the government is striving to transition the energy structure to rely as little as possible on crude oil.
When asked if there would be a solution to lower fuel prices on Tuesday (27 Oct), Anutin simply said that it would be proposed to the Cabinet.
