Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana declared that the government is ready for a full no-confidence debate within an appropriate framework. He criticized the opposition, saying if they had accepted a four-day debate schedule from the start, the issue would have been resolved long ago. He emphasized the Prime Minister's sincerity and the instruction for ministers to postpone other duties and remain in Thailand.
25 Oct 2026 GMT+7 Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, a party-list Member of Parliament for the Bhumjaithai Party and former Minister of Industry, commented on Satit Wongnongtoey, Deputy Leader of the Democrat Party, who said that with seven weeks remaining until the parliamentary session ends, it is impossible for the government to be unavailable for no-confidence debate, which would violate the constitution.
Thanakorn revealed that the government, led by Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, is ready to clarify the facts to the public regarding the opposition's accusations. He said the government is not concerned by the opposition's initial attempts to pressure, as it is genuinely serving the people. However, the opposition has insisted on a five-day debate period without compromising, rather than focusing on the substantive issues to be debated, so no agreement has been reached yet.
He said if the opposition had accepted the four-day debate schedule from the start, this matter would likely have been resolved long ago, as the government currently has important obligations awaiting. These include the 33rd APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting (APEC 2026) in China and the 49th ASEAN Summit in the Philippines. Additionally, the Prime Minister of the People's Republic of China will visit Thailand. Therefore, the government must find a new suitable date, as these national-level duties are important and cannot be overlooked or allowed to cause errors.
"I confirm that the government has been ready to fully clarify issues to the opposition in parliament within a suitable timeframe. The Prime Minister has instructed all ministers, especially those facing no-confidence debate, to postpone all other work and remain in Thailand. But since the opposition has refused, the government must find a new appropriate date. It must be acknowledged that the government also has important national duties scheduled well in advance. This is not a delaying tactic; rather, the opposition has refused to listen to reason from the start, insisting on more debate days instead of focusing on the debate's substance. Nonetheless, I believe an agreement will eventually be reached."
