Anutin Holds EEC Board Meeting to Discuss Resolution of High-Speed Rail Project Connecting Three Airports

Anutin held a meeting of the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) board to discuss solutions for the high-speed rail project connecting three airports, following the State Railway of Thailand's (SRT) filing of a lawsuit against private companies and related parties seeking over 13 billion baht in damages, reaffirming adherence to the contract.

On 26 Oct 2026 GMT+7, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, clarified the status of the high-speed rail project linking three airports after the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) filed lawsuits against eight private contractors and related parties, claiming over 13 billion baht. He indicated the matter will be brought up for discussion at the Eastern Economic Corridor Policy Committee (EEPC) meeting this afternoon, noting that deliberations are necessary before determining the direction. Regarding whether the project will proceed, Anutin stated it will follow the contract terms.

Regarding the Cabinet meeting tomorrow and whether it will consider excise tax on fuel to assist citizens affected by rising fuel prices, Anutin said the Cabinet will discuss fuel excise tax measures. He asked the public to await the Cabinet's decision on any tax structure revisions, which will be announced once a resolution is reached.

Asked if there would be positive news for the public facing significant impacts on daily life, Anutin responded that the proposed tax measure concerns the E20 gasoline category.
