The government spokesperson firmly denied the fake news claiming a money transfer as a "tea money" bribe to Anutin's account, affirming it is fake news. Authorities are watching pages spreading false news that delete posts and close down to escape detection. The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society is intensively tracking these networks and warns politicians that sharing distorted news risks legal charges.
On 26 October 2026, reporters noted that the Facebook page Godd dam posted accusations alleging that an individual transferred money to an account named Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, who at the time was Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, along with an image of a money transfer slip for 7 million baht, dated 31 October 2023, which also labeled the money as “tea money.” .
Recently, Mr. Ekaphop Pienpiset, spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister, addressed this issue after seeing the widely shared information and receiving it from others that there is shared information about money being transferred into the account of Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, during his tenure as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. He confirmed that this information can immediately be classified as fake news.
The first reason is that no politician would accept millions of baht without any clear source, which politicians must be cautious of because accepting benefits over 3,000 baht can lead to legal accusations.
The second reason is that the transfer slip can be fabricated. The so-called Wisdom account requires sufficient funds and limits transfers to no more than 5 million baht per transaction. To transfer more, one must request higher limits from the bank, which is uncommon due to the evidence it creates.
The third reason is well known: Mr. Anutin is not a person with little money and does not need such funds. These three reasons alone disprove the story.
The government spokesperson added that the focus now is on the page’s behavior, which is not a first occurrence. There have been many incidents of fake news and false reports. The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society is following up, noting that this page spreads fake news, deletes posts, and sometimes closes the page before reopening a new one. It is observed that pages which are reported or removed rarely reopen with the same name. This page cycles through names like V1, V2 up to V10, releasing some news before closing and opening anew. “Regarding this matter, I can say they will not escape. The Ministry of Digital Economy is actively pursuing these networks.”
What is alarming is politicians sharing and forwarding such information. Politicians should verify information before sharing. Two observations are noted: first, sharing interesting news without verification; second, being part of networks aware that the page will post, preparing to share it to boost engagement. The Ministry is working on this, regardless of whether the page or poster is in Thailand or uses VPNs to appear abroad. They will pursue the networks everywhere. Those who share distorted information will not escape, especially politicians, who must bear greater social responsibility.
“Spreading distorted news or attacking others with false information will lead to criminal and ethical charges. I urge that political standards must not decline but be raised, prioritizing national interests and the public. Even if today it is personal data being attacked, if these pages use national security or core institutions’ information and politicians support that, what would happen?”
