Sophon guarantees that the opposition will initiate the no-confidence battle during this parliamentary session. He confirmed the timeframe is 4+1 days and is waiting for the government to set the debate's start date.

At 11:20 a.m. on 26 Oct 2026 at the Parliament, Sophon Sarum, Speaker of the House, spoke about the opposition's request for him to send a letter to the Cabinet to set the date for the new no-confidence debate. He said he would send the letter on 26 Oct 2026. By agreed principles, the debate will last 4+1 days. He confirmed the no-confidence debate will definitely take place in this session without cancellation. The Prime Minister also stated readiness.

Regarding the Cabinet's busy schedule making coordination difficult, Sophon said that despite the difficulty, time must be allocated. Originally, the debate was to be held this week, but the opposition couldn't prepare in time, so they requested postponement to November or December. It could even be held on a weekend. The no-confidence debate is a normal matter without complications or disturbances as portrayed in the media. The Speaker's words guarantee the debate will happen. As for the exact start date, he asked to wait for the government's decision.
