The National Security Council (NSC) Secretary revealed that the Prime Minister has urged all parties to cooperate, emphasizing security and intelligence. He believes the protests in Europe will not cause a domino effect impacting Thailand. He also stressed close monitoring of the Thai-Myanmar border and insisted that operations against ethnic minorities must not affect the border residents.
At 13:40 on 26 Oct 2026 at the Government House, Gen. Chaipruk Duangprapat, Secretary of the National Security Council (NSC), was interviewed regarding whether the Prime Minister issued any directives during a meeting with department heads at the Thai Khu Fah Building on 24 Oct 2026. He said the Prime Minister emphasized work coordination because many tasks lie ahead, especially those involving security agencies. The Prime Minister urged everyone to cooperate and pay close attention to the details of their responsibilities. There was nothing special beyond this; it was just a general reminder to each agency.
When asked which intelligence matters the Prime Minister particularly wants to monitor towards the year's end, Gen. Chaipruk said all of them. The intelligence agencies have been reporting, though he declined to disclose specifics. As NSC Secretary, he convenes all intelligence units to discuss and provides the Prime Minister with weekly intelligence updates on progress, except in urgent cases where the Prime Minister is informed within an authorized circle.
Regarding whether the protests occurring in Europe require monitoring, Gen. Chaipruk said the relevant intelligence units are already examining details. He affirmed it is unlikely these protests will create a domino effect reaching our region. We are watching the situation, but given the significant differences between Europe and us, no related incidents are expected. As for our neighborhood,
The NSC is already focusing on the southern region, the Thai-Cambodian border, and the Thai-Myanmar border where fighting occurs. With the upcoming dry season, crackdowns on ethnic minorities are expected. We will instruct Myanmar not to cause any harm or losses to civilians living near our border under any circumstances.
When asked if a formal warning letter will be sent to Myanmar, Gen. Chaipruk confirmed this. We have assigned relevant officials to handle it. Our relationship with Myanmar operates at multiple levels—from local areas to the NSC level—and we have instructed at every level to prevent causing trouble or harm to civilians along our border areas.
