Deputy Minister of Digital Economy Awaits Cyber Crime Police Statement, Does Not Confirm Godd Dam Page Owner After Social Investigator Reveals Data

The Deputy Minister of Digital Economy and Society stated that the identity of the “Godd Dam” page owner is not yet confirmed after social investigators revealed information, awaiting an official statement from the Cyber Crime Police Division. Regarding politicians who shared the content, their intent will be reviewed if legal action is pursued. Responding to Sirichok’s criticism about shutting down many gambling websites, questions remain about how these sites remain accessible.

26 Oct 2026 GMT+7 Ms. Nan Boonthida Somchai, Deputy Minister of Digital Economy and Society, spoke at the Bhumjaithai Party regarding progress on legal proceedings. Regarding the Godd Dam page, she said the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society and the Ministry of Justice have coordinated with the Technology Crime Suppression Division (Cyber Crime Police Division) to verify information with online platforms, viewing this case as the direct spread of fake news to defame the Prime Minister. Additionally, Kasikorn Bank has confirmed there were no such transactions.

On the question raised about why the legal action proceeded swiftly, Ms. Nan said the issues should be separated, as the identification of the suspect was done by social investigators and has not yet been confirmed that the individual is truly the offender. Meanwhile, the Cyber Crime Police Division is conducting an official investigation. They must also coordinate with online platforms to request IP address data since the posts were made via social media. She requested the Cyber Crime Police Division to announce the identification results of the offender.

When asked if the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society filed the complaint, Ms. Nan said it is a coordination between the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society and the Ministry of Justice. The former gathers initial information, while the Cyber Crime Police Division has authority to request all data. Regarding whether the person named online is the actual offender, she emphasized that the individual being shared is identified by social investigators independently, and officials have not confirmed this yet. The process of requesting data from online platforms is ongoing.

Regarding politicians who shared the information, she said action depends on intent, as the law considers intent. She said, “Whatever your intent was with the post, you must take responsibility.” She further noted that many who shared fake news previously ran “Check Before You Share” campaigns but shared immediately without verifying when it involved themselves, despite holding positions and social standing. Therefore, verification is essential to prevent public misunderstanding.

Responding to former Democrat MP Sirichok Sopa’s criticism that action against the page was faster than arrests of gambling websites, Ms. Nan confirmed that gambling cases are not delayed, as many sites have been shut down. She questioned how those sites are accessed since many remain unreachable via operators. She assured that accessing through mobile phones is certainly blocked.

Regarding the case where the Royal Thai Police's Internal Security Operations Command filed a complaint against the Godd Dam page under Criminal Code Section 112, the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society said they are not yet aware. This is because no owner has been confirmed for the page. The current information comes from social investigators. For clarity, the Cyber Crime Police Division must officially announce and identify the offender. ."
