Minister Worawut Orders Swift Recovery for 4,829 Businesses Damaged by Floods Worth Over 18.276 Billion Baht

Minister Worawut, Minister of Industry, has ordered the rapid restoration of 4,829 businesses damaged by floods totaling over 18.276 billion baht, including capital injection, debt relief, machinery repairs, production line recovery, and SME revitalization. A long-term response plan is to be submitted to the Cabinet.

On 26 October 2026, Minister of Industry Worawut Silpa-archa announced that although the flood crisis has passed in many areas, a key ongoing mission is to quickly restore affected entrepreneurs to resume business. Data from the Ministry of Industry's Crisis Management Center (CMC), led by Inspector General Decha Jatuthananan who is also the ministry's spokesperson, reported 4,829 affected businesses across 63 provinces with total damages of 18,276.08 million baht. Among them, 4,022 businesses reported financial impacts.

The Ministry of Industry is coordinating assistance in both funding and business recovery. The Small and Medium Enterprise Development Bank of Thailand (SME D Bank) has granted principal and interest debt moratoriums to 744 businesses and approved emergency funds for repair and recovery to 8 businesses, totaling 2,445 million baht in these measures. Additionally, 6 DIPROM Pay customers received a debt moratorium totaling 1 million baht, and 23 businesses were granted increased loans or refinancing totaling 2.3 million baht.

Assistance extends beyond liquidity support to solving obstacles preventing businesses from resuming operations. The Regional Industry Promotion Centers and provincial industry offices have surveyed damages and referred urgently affected businesses to the Department of Industrial Promotion. This department implements the Rebuild SMEs project and Recover activities, providing in-depth consultancy to improve factories, machinery, and production processes, as well as diagnosing direct and indirect impacts to tailor recovery plans for each business. Currently, 48 businesses have received recovery support out of 264 awaiting assistance.

Minister Worawut said the CMC emphasized that in Amata City Industrial Estate, Chonburi, which hosts 862 businesses employing over 200,000 people with total investments of 260 billion baht, the Ministry has tasked the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) to gather entrepreneurs' proposals. These aim to push for Cabinet-approved measures covering investment and tax incentives, insurance, and sustainable flood prevention infrastructure investments.

The proposals cover four areas: enhancing communication during incidents, developing flood prevention systems, managing wastewater and sanitation, and providing business assistance measures. Some actions can proceed immediately, such as preparing sandbags, water barriers, and pumping systems, plus a 50% reduction in maintenance and some utility service fees at Amata for two years to support affected producers. The main goal is to help businesses resume production, generate income, and maintain employment continuously, while establishing guidelines to prevent and better prepare for future disasters to avoid recurring flood damage disrupting business operations.
