Election Commission Sets Spending Limit at 1.9 Million Baht for Sa Kaeo Constituency 3 By-Election Candidates

The Election Commission reiterated that in the Sa Kaeo Constituency 3 by-election to fill a vacant seat, each candidate must not spend more than 1.9 million baht. Violators face imprisonment and fines, and courts may revoke voting rights for 10 years.

On 26 Oct 2026, the Election Commission Office released information regarding election expenses.

This concerns the election for a Member of Parliament to fill the vacant seat formerly held by Mr. Surasak Chingnavorn.

He was the MP for Sa Kaeo Constituency 3 from the Kla Tham Party and passed away on 24 October 2026.

According to the Organic Act on the Election of Members of the House of Representatives B.E. 2561 (2018),

and its amendments, along with the Election Commission's announcement setting the spending limits

for Members of Parliament elections in B.E. 2566 (2023), the following applies:

1. Each candidate in the single-member constituency election must not exceed campaign expenses

related to the by-election for the vacant seat totaling more than 1,900,000 baht.

2. Spending calculations cover expenses from the date the seat became vacant

until the day of the election.

3. Any candidate who exceeds the Election Commission's spending limit faces penalties of 1 to 5 years imprisonment, or a fine of 20,000 to 100,000 baht, or a fine three times the excess amount, whichever is greater, or both imprisonment and fine. Additionally, the court will revoke their voting rights for a period of 10 years.
