Prasert Reveals Pheu Thai to Nominate Srawong for Sa Kaeo By-Election in Constituency 3

Pheu Thai is preparing to seek approval from the party executive committee to nominate “Srawong Thienthong” as its candidate for the Sa Kaeo Constituency 3 by-election. Prasert revealed that the Kla Tham party still does not have government status and emphasized that as of today, the government coalition consists only of Pheu Thai and Bhumjaithai parties.

At 10:00 a.m. on 27 Oct 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Prasert Chantrawongtong, Minister of Education and Secretary-General of the Pheu Thai Party, gave an interview at the Government House regarding the by-election for the Sa Kaeo Constituency 3 seat, replacing Mr. Surasak Chingnavan, former MP from the Kla Tham party who passed away. He said that the area originally belonged to Pheu Thai, which in the last election, Mr. Srawong Thienthong, the Pheu Thai candidate, finished second but has continued working in the area. During the recent floods in Sa Kaeo Province, Mr. Srawong also provided ongoing assistance to the people on behalf of Pheu Thai. He is a senior party figure and has served as the MP for this area for 3–4 terms. Initially, they plan to nominate Mr. Srawong for the by-election and will bring the matter to the party executive committee meeting to obtain an official resolution.

When asked how he assesses the former champion Kla Tham party, Mr. Prasert said that in politics they do not underestimate anyone, but since Mr. Srawong has been active in the area continuously, they are confident they can reclaim the seat. When further asked about rumors that Kla Tham might join the government coalition and whether Pheu Thai nominating a candidate would be inappropriate, Mr. Prasert said that currently, Pheu Thai is in coalition only with Bhumjaithai. Kla Tham has no government status at this time. Therefore, it is clear that the government coalition consists only of Pheu Thai and Bhumjaithai parties.
