The Cabinet meeting approved a draft royal decree to hold a by-election for the Sa Kaeo MP in Constituency 3 to fill the vacancy following the death of former Glatham Party MP, Surasak Chingnavorn.
On 27 October 2026, Ms. Ploytale Laksamee Sangchan, Deputy Spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister, disclosed that the Cabinet approved the draft royal decree to hold a by-election for the Member of Parliament for Sa Kaeo Province, Constituency 3, to fill the vacant seat, B.E. .... The membership of Mr. Surasak Chingnavorn as MP for Sa Kaeo Province, Constituency 3, ended under Section 101 (2) of the 2017 Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand on 24 October 2026, as proposed by the Election Commission Office.
Ms. Ploytale said that since the Sa Kaeo MP seat in Constituency 3 is vacant, Section 105, paragraph one (1) of the 2017 Constitution states that when a constituency-based MP seat becomes vacant for reasons other than the expiration of the House of Representatives’ term or dissolution of the House, a royal decree must be issued to hold a by-election within 45 days from the date the seat was vacated, unless the remaining term of the House is less than 180 days, thus necessitating this royal decree.
