Julapan Confident Suangthong Will Reclaim Sa Kaeo District 3 Seat, Unconcerned About Border Issue Attacks

Labour Minister Julapan Amornwiwat is confident that Suangthong Thienthong will reclaim the Sa Kaeo District 3 seat and is not concerned about potential attacks involving border issues. He is preparing to bring party leaders to assist in the by-election campaign.

At 12:10 p.m. on 27 Oct 2026 at the Government House, Labour Minister Julapan Amornwiwat, leader of the Pheu Thai Party, spoke about the Sa Kaeo District 3 by-election. He first expressed condolences to the family of Surasak Chingnavan, MP from the Kla Tham Party. He noted that this area is traditionally Pheu Thai territory, where party members have supported residents during recent flooding. The party has been active in relief efforts, demonstrating a strong bond with the community. The party is considering fielding the same candidate, Suangthong Thienthong, former Pheu Thai Secretary-General, for this by-election. However, the party's executive committee meeting on 27 Oct has not yet reviewed this matter, as the nomination process is handled by a selection committee.

When asked if a strong team would be deployed to support the candidate locally, Julapan said that during elections it is normal to assist. Senior party figures and executives will take turns helping out, which is standard practice.

Asked if he was worried that border-related issues, which were used to attack in previous elections, might be brought up again in this by-election, Julapan replied that they are not concerned. Their duty is to work hard to demonstrate their commitment to the people.

When questioned about rumours that the Kla Tham Party might join the government coalition and whether this might cause internal conflicts, Julapan said no. He described such developments as normal in politics. Parties must field representatives for voters to consider. There is no such conflict or related discussions.

Asked whether he is confident about reclaiming the seat, Julapan said they will do their best and prefer not to predict outcomes. However, he is confident that their candidate is known locally and trusted by the people. They will work hard to regain voters' trust.
