The Election Commission has announced the certification of Athikan Kaokruasri, son-in-law of Rang Thuraphon, as the Member of Parliament for Udon Thani Constituency 3 from the Bhumjaithai Party, following his election win on August 30. He can collect his certification starting tomorrow (28 Oct).
On 27 October 2026, the Office of the Election Commission published the official certification of the election results for the Member of Parliament of Udon Thani Province, Constituency 3, to fill a vacant seat. In 2026, the Election Commission had scheduled Sunday, 30 August 2026, as the election day and completed the voting process.
The Election Commission Office proposed the matter for the Election Commission's consideration to certify the election result for the MP of Udon Thani Constituency 3 to fill the vacancy. The Election Commission resolved to certify the election results under Section 127 of the Organic Act on the Election of Members of the House of Representatives, B.E. 2561 (2018) and its amendments, together with Article 215 of the Election Commission regulations on the election of House members, B.E. 2566 (2023) and amendments. The candidate elected as the MP for Udon Thani Constituency 3 to fill the vacant seat is Mr. Athikan Kaokruasri.
He may receive his certificate of election as MP for Udon Thani Constituency 3 (Certificate No. 6/4) from 28 October 2026 onwards, between 08:30 and 16:30 at the Election Commission Office, 5th Floor, Ratchaprasannaphakdi Building (Building B), Government Complex, Chaeng Watthana Road, Laksi District, Bangkok. If unable to collect the certificate in person, a letter of authorization with certified copies of the ID cards of both the authorizer and authorized person must be presented on that day.
Additional reports from correspondents state that Mr. Athikan Kaokruasri is the husband of Ms. Liam Thuraphon, also known as Councilor Liam, who currently serves as a member of the Udon Thani Provincial Administrative Organization Council (PAO), representing Phon District, Constituency 3. Ms. Liam is the daughter of Mr. Rang Thuraphon, a former MP for Udon Thani Constituency 3 from the Bhumjaithai Party, making Athikan his son-in-law. This by-election followed the passing of Mr. Rang Thuraphon.
