Akkharadet supports the government's reduction of excise taxes on B20 and E20 fuels, helping farmers by raising prices of sugarcane, cassava, and oil palm, reducing crude oil imports, and putting more money in people's pockets to tackle the energy crisis. He thanked the Prime Minister and Cabinet for prioritizing bioenergy.
28 Oct 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Akkharadet Wongpitakroj Member of Parliament (MP) for Ratchaburi from the Bhumjaithai Party, Mr. Akkharadet Wongpitakroj, commented after the Cabinet's resolution to reduce excise taxes on fuels containing biofuel components such as B20 and E20. He said this policy is a positive government initiative that will promote bioenergy use alongside supporting farmers and reducing public expenses.
Mr. Akkharadet added that supporting the use of B20 and E20 will increase demand for agricultural raw materials like sugarcane, cassava, and oil palm. This could positively impact the prices and incomes of farmers growing these three crops. At the same time, it reduces reliance on imported crude oil. Furthermore, reducing excise taxes on biofuels helps lower energy costs for the public, effectively putting more money into people's pockets. This enhances purchasing power and alleviates economic impacts.
“This approach addresses several public concerns: assisting farmers, reducing crude oil imports, and easing citizens’ financial burdens, especially as the country faces an ongoing energy crisis. Crude oil prices are expected to rise further due to the unresolved war situation.”
In closing, Mr. Akkharadet also expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister and Cabinet for emphasizing the promotion of bioenergy. He views this measure as a way to mitigate the effects of the energy crisis while supporting both the agricultural sector and the general population.
