The Prime Minister denies reports of cutting allowances for Border Patrol Police and southern border officers in 2027, affirming there is no such issue. He emphasizes maintaining morale and welfare for those who sacrifice according to existing regulations, suggesting it may be a miscommunication, and refers detailed questions to the Royal Thai Police Commander.
On 28 October 2026 at 3:00 p.m. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, gave an interview at the Royal Thai Police Headquarters following meetings of the National Police Policy Committee (NPPC) and the Police Commission (PC) regarding the rumors about cutting allowances for Border Patrol Police and police officers in the three southern border provinces in 2027. The Prime Minister asked, “Border Patrol Police?” before shaking his head and adding, “No, I don’t know how such news was proposed. It was made clear in the meeting that there is no such issue. Morale, compensation, and welfare care for those who dedicate and sacrifice to protect Thailand’s land and borders, including police, military, or others in risky duties, is a responsibility that the agencies must look after.”
Furthermore, the Prime Minister sees this as a miscommunication because the meeting confirmed the matter, and everyone understands it is not true. Everything follows the existing regulations they have been managing. When asked if the Border Patrol Police would receive allowances as in previous years, the Prime Minister said the details should be asked of Police General Samran Nualma, the Royal Thai Police Commander.
