Srisuwan Provides Statement to Election Commission on MP Ideas Donation to Bhumjaithai, Urges Probe into Husbands 1.974 Billion Baht Assets for Potential Political Party Law Violations

Srisuwan provided a statement to the Election Commission concerning a complaint about MP Idea's donation to the Bhumjaithai Party, urging an investigation into the money trail linked to her husband's 1.974 billion baht assets to determine if it violates political party laws. He emphasized that if violations are confirmed, the penalty could be as severe as party dissolution.

On 29 October 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Mr. Srisuwan Janya, leader of the Rak Chart Rak Phandin organization, revealed that the Election Commission (EC) had summoned him to provide a statement regarding a complaint submitted by Rak Chart Rak Phandin to request an investigation. MP Suchada Sangthanaphep (Idea) from Chaiyaphum province, Bhumjaithai Party, concerning donations she made to the party, questioning whether they violated Sections 72 and 74, in conjunction with Section 92 (3) of the 2017 Political Party Act. If violations are found, the case could be forwarded to the Constitutional Court under Section 92 (4) for further legal proceedings, with the highest penalty being party dissolution.

Srisuwan said the issue arose because Suchada had donated to the Bhumjaithai Party multiple times, both before and during her tenure as an MP, raising significant questions about the source of her assets, which might be linked to her husband's assets ( Mr. Taiyang Sang ), who reported assets worth as much as 1.974 billion baht to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) on 15 March 2026.

This case has raised questions since MP Idea declared an annual income of about 1.7 million baht, while her husband stated he had no occupation or annual income, yet possesses substantial assets. Moreover, he is not Thai but a Chinese-born Australian citizen. Under NACC regulations, Section 102 requires individuals cohabiting as husband and wife without formal marriage registration to report their assets and liabilities. The NACC has announced it is conducting an in-depth review of the origin of these assets, income, and debt repayment capacity.

Later, MP Idea admitted that her husband once held a 1.47% share in Mixed Order Limited, which operates the Shuffle website, but sold it before she became an MP. Prior to her parliamentary role, she was appointed secretary to the Minister of Digital Economy and Society (DE) and spokesperson for the ministry on 7 October 2025, during Mr. Chaichanak Chidchob's tenure as minister and secretary-general of the Bhumjaithai Party. Even before holding political office, she made donations to the Bhumjaithai Party, raising suspicion. The EC must coordinate with relevant agencies to thoroughly investigate the money trail to clarify whether these funds originated from her husband.

Furthermore, political party donations are clearly regulated under the 2017 Political Party Act. Section 72 prohibits parties and their officials from accepting money, assets, or benefits if they know or should suspect the source is unlawful. Section 74 explicitly forbids donations from non-Thai individuals or foreign legal entities. Should the EC find illegal donations, severe penalties under Section 92 (3) apply, and the EC must refer the case to the Constitutional Court to consider party dissolution under Section 92 (4).

Therefore, today I came to provide testimony highlighting key points and clues for the EC to investigate further, aiming to clarify public doubts and uphold the rule of law.
