Rom Unsure if Opposition Will Submit Section 152 Debate Proposal

Rom remains uncertain whether the opposition will submit a Section 152 debate proposal. He acknowledges the People's Party's interest but emphasizes the need to consult with the opposition whips. He points out that if there is remaining time, it can be done.

On 29 Oct 2026, Rangsit Rom, a party-list MP of the People's Party, addressed rumors about the opposition submitting a no-vote general debate. He said he is personally responsible for the no-confidence debate, which is confirmed to be scheduled from 7-11 December. The debate will take place from 7-10 December, with voting on 11 December. Counting the time left, there is about a month to use for oversight on various crises or issues during this period. However, he cannot yet say whether the remaining time will be used to request a no-vote general debate and needs to consult with the opposition whips again.

Nevertheless, regarding the no-vote general debate under Section 152, several People's Party MPs are interested and feel that if time remains, there should be a debate to further scrutinize the government's work. But personally, he does not know if the proposal will be formally submitted. He is confident that if the proposal is submitted, there will be enough time to hold the debate, since the schedule for the prime minister and each minister is already known. If time permits, it should be possible.
