Deputy Speaker Lertsak has submitted a request to the Health Commission to ask the Ministry of Public Health to review and ease the yellow fever vaccine certificate requirements for travelers from Argentina, after these rules impacted international travel for citizens of Thailand and Argentina.
On 30 October 2026, Sakolthee Phattiyakul, Chair of the Health Commission, revealed that on 29 October, Lertsak Phatthanaichakul, Second Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, submitted a letter through him and the Health Commission. The letter requested coordination with the Ministry of Public Health to review and ease the yellow fever vaccine certificate checks for travelers from Argentina. This followed discussions with the Argentine ambassador and the Thai-Argentine Parliamentary Friendship Group, which found that Argentina has been free of yellow fever cases since 2009 and that only 4.1% of its territory is considered at risk by the WHO, meaning over 90% of its population lacks vaccine certificates.
“The current criteria have caused tourists to cancel their trips to Thailand and have affected relatives who must travel to care for emergency patients,” Sakolthee said.
Sakolthee emphasized that this effort aims to adjust the measures to better reflect the actual situation, with the goal of reviving tourism and strengthening the relationship between the two countries.
