Wacharapol Inspects Readiness of Udon Thani International Horticultural Expo Before November 1 Opening

Wacharapol, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, inspected the readiness of the Udon Thani International Horticultural Expo 2026, inviting visitors to admire the variety of plants, agricultural innovations, and Isan lifestyle before the event opens on 1 November.

On 30 October 2026, Mr. Wacharapol Khawkhum, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, visited the site to monitor preparations for the "Udon Thani International Horticultural Expo 2026," scheduled from 1 November 2026 to 14 March 2027 at the Nong Da Wetland area, Kut Sa Subdistrict, Mueang Udon Thani District, Udon Thani Province. Executives and representatives from government agencies, the private sector, and related organizations joined to inspect the venue, buildings, utilities, and exhibition setups to accommodate both Thai and international tourists.

After inspecting the preparations, Wacharapol stated that overall readiness is nearly 100 percent. The gardens and various plant species are almost fully completed. The building structures are in good condition, with only minor details left, such as installing signs, flags, and decorating areas for participating agencies. Organizers assured completion on schedule. During his site visit from morning until noon, he managed to see only 30–40 percent of the total area, reflecting the wide variety of activities and exhibitions visitors can enjoy throughout the day.

“As a native of Udon Thani, I want to see my hometown fully ready to welcome tourists and distinguished guests. That’s why I personally inspected the site to review every detail and urged the organizers to expedite remaining tasks to meet deadlines,” Wacharapol said.

Highlights of the event include four plant display houses showcasing diverse species such as orchids, bromeliads, cacti, and various indoor plants. Visitors can also appreciate the beauty of lotus and aquatic plant gardens, ornamental flower gardens, Thai fruit pathways, and a loop bridge offering panoramic views of the Nong Da Wetland. Meanwhile, 16 organizational gardens present research, technology, and agricultural innovations, including modern machinery, eco-friendly production methods, and scientific knowledge aimed at boosting efficiency and creating new opportunities for farmers and the Thai agricultural sector.

Additionally, the Isan Village showcases local identity and lifestyle through traditional wooden house architecture. It highlights agricultural wisdom, rice cultivation, silk weaving, use of herbs, and traditional Thai medicine. The Royal Pavilion exhibits royal agricultural projects, water management, and natural resource conservation. There is also an exhibition titled "134 Years of History Leading to Present-Day Udon Thani," illustrating the province’s history and development, alongside international exhibition areas presenting diverse horticultural and cultural displays from various countries.

Wacharapol added that this event not only offers the public a chance to admire beautiful plants and experience cultural diversity but also serves as a platform to share Thai agricultural knowledge and innovations. It creates economic opportunities for local residents through a community market featuring products from local entrepreneurs. With facilities to support tourists, he invites the public and visitors to experience horticulture, agriculture, and local identity at the Udon Thani International Horticultural Expo, opening from 1 November 2026 onwards.
