Democrat Party Collaborates with Global Liberal Organizations to Host 65th Liberal International Congress

Isra revealed that the Democrat Party is joining forces with global liberal organizations to co-host the 65th Liberal International Congress, emphasizing the party's position as Thailand's most stable and sustainable liberal democratic party.

On 30 October 2026 at the Democrat Party headquarters, Isra Suntornwattana, Deputy Leader of the Democrat Party, announced that the party has been honored to host the 65th Liberal International Congress from 1–4 November at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. This event is organized in collaboration with three international liberal democratic partner organizations: Liberal International (LI), the Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats (CALD), and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF) of Germany. LI is an international organization with a history spanning over 79 years, headquartered in the United Kingdom, comprising a network of more than 90 political parties worldwide committed to liberal democracy across Asia, Europe, Latin America, and North America. CALD is a regional Asian organization co-founded by the Democrat Party 33 years ago. FNF, based in Germany, plays a key role in promoting and supporting liberal democratic parties globally. This 65th congress marks the first time it is held in Thailand and the first time in 20 years that it is hosted in Asia.

Isra added that the reason global organizations chose Thailand as the host site is that, after Abhisit Vejjajiva and the Democrat Party's executive committee resumed leadership last year, LI, CALD, and FNF immediately expressed their desire to hold the event in Thailand. They see the Democrat Party as the only political party in Thailand with a clear and enduring commitment to liberal democratic ideals. He invited the Thai public to follow the news, key messages, and developments from this international congress, which will feature a large gathering of liberal political party representatives from around the world exchanging views.
