Rumors circulate that Thaksin is pressuring the Peace Promotion Committee to accept an amnesty petition in exchange for votes on the no-confidence motion against the Anutin cabinet.
On 31 October 2026, reports stated that former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra authorized lawyer Winyat Chatmontri to submit a petition to the Peace Promotion Committee, to be forwarded to Pakorn Nilprapan, chairman of the committee, requesting consideration of his right to amnesty and exemption from liability under the 2026 Peace Promotion Act to clear his political-related charges.
Currently, the petition is under review by a subcommittee chaired by Piyasiri Watanawarangkura, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, who will convene a meeting to screen the petition before submitting it to the full Peace Promotion Committee for consideration.
However, on 30 October, reports indicated that Thaksin attempted to pressure government officials and the Peace Promotion Committee to accept the petition by leveraging 74 votes from Pheu Thai MPs as a bargaining chip for the upcoming confidence vote on Anutin Charnvirakul and 17 ministers from the Bhumjaithai Party, scheduled for 7-11 December.
Additionally, there are reports of attempts to pressure Captain Thammanat Prompao, leader of the Kla Party with 58 MPs, due to unclear prospects of joining the government. However, initially, Captain Thammanat has not shown interest in the proposal.
