The government is promoting weekday tourism. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is preparing to launch "100 Baht Travel Across Thailand," offering travel deals priced at 100 baht in 8 rounds starting 15 Dec 2026 to support income distribution to popular destinations and local economies, emphasizing that this is not a cash handout to citizens rather an incentive.
On 1 Nov 2026, Ms. Lalida Pertwiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, stated that the government under Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul is pushing economic stimulation through tourism by distributing income to attractive destinations and regional communities. It also encourages weekday travel to reduce tourist congestion during holidays and create more income opportunities for local operators. Recently, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has prepared to launch a project. "100 Baht Travel Across Thailand." It offers special privileges and discounted travel vouchers to encourage Thai and foreign residents in Thailand to travel and spend more, helping sustain local economies throughout the week.
Ms. Lalida said TAT is coordinating with over 170 private sector operators, covering accommodations, restaurants, activities, tourist attractions, health and beauty, and related tourism services to develop special offers that stimulate travel and service use on weekdays. The project has two parts: special privileges and discounts from participating operators, and an online "SHOCK DEALS" event selling travel vouchers priced at 100 baht.
For the SHOCK DEALS event, voucher sales will open on Tuesdays for 8 rounds from 15 Dec 2026 to 9 Feb 2027. Voucher use is restricted to Monday through Thursday travel or services to increase weekday tourism during off-peak times, providing steady income for tourism businesses outside weekends and spreading spending to restaurants, local shops, transport services, and small local operators.
Ms. Lalida added that the project aims not only to offer special prices but to encourage actual travel and spending locally so tourism income benefits a broad population, especially in attractive destinations that currently see tourist concentration only on holidays. Promoting weekday travel will boost economic opportunities for businesses and communities.
Citizens are advised to check conditions before purchasing vouchers. The 100 baht price applies only to vouchers sold in the SHOCK DEALS event and does not mean all tourism goods and services cost 100 baht. This is not a cash handout. Voucher sales days and usage days differ: vouchers sell on Tuesdays but must be used Monday through Thursday. Interested persons should carefully review service types, usage days, and each operator's conditions.
Currently, TAT is preparing to launch the activities and will announce participation details through official channels. The public should follow updates before purchasing or paying. Operators interested in joining can inquire via the LINE Official Account @weekday100.
"The government wants tourism to be a tool for broadly distributing income to local areas, not concentrated only in main tourist cities or holidays. The ‘100 Baht Travel Across Thailand’ project will motivate people to travel on weekdays, providing businesses with continuous customers and stimulating local economies. We urge the public to follow details and check conditions before buying vouchers to plan travel and use benefits effectively," Ms. Lalida said.
