Deputy Government Spokesperson Expects World Horticultural Expo to Boost Economy by Over 20 Billion Baht

The Deputy Government Spokesperson invited people to explore the community lifestyle and local culture in Udon Thani Province, highlighting the Mi Khid Non Kok woven fabric used for ministers’ outfits during the Cabinet’s mobile meeting. The World Horticultural Expo is expected to stimulate the economy by more than 20 billion baht.

On 1 Nov 2026 at Ban Non Kok, Nong Nakham Subdistrict, Mueang District, Udon Thani Province, Captain Patchdarasmi Thongsaluaykorn, Deputy Government Spokesperson at the Prime Minister’s Office, spoke about tourism in Udon Thani, known for Mi Khid woven fabric, natural attractions like the Red Lotus Sea, historical sites such as Ban Chiang, numerous restaurants, as well as community lifestyles and culture, promising an excellent experience.

Udon Thani will also host two major events: the World Horticultural Expo and the Cabinet’s mobile meeting. The Expo runs from 1 November 2026 to 14 March 2027, totaling 134 days. The event features diverse plant species, 32 international gardens, plus six gardens from government and private sectors. Additionally, over one million ornamental flowering plants will be displayed and rotated.

The Deputy Government Spokesperson stated that all these elements reflect the diversity of life, waterways, human relationships, and plants, as well as sustainable living. She encouraged everyone to visit Udon Thani, share experiences, and help stimulate the community-based economy. The Expo is expected to boost the economy by over 20 billion baht with more than 3.6 million visitors. The event will also present over 200 art and cultural performances throughout the 134 days.

Captain Patchdarasmi also reminded travelers to Udon Thani that the Mi Khid woven fabric, a provincial symbol featuring Ban Chiang jar and lotus flower patterns, will be worn during the Cabinet’s mobile meeting to reflect cultural values and local wisdom. She urged the public to follow the Cabinet’s mobile meeting in Udon Thani, which will focus on key issues including agriculture, food, and drug suppression.

Deputy Government Spokesperson Lalida Pertwiwatana added that Udon Thani is not only a tourist destination but also an economic city with a high economic value of 130 billion baht. Its charm lies in processing agricultural products and renowned service, such as in Non Kok Subdistrict, which serves as a fabric learning center that adds economic value through local wisdom. The economic benefit goes beyond souvenirs; it supports income distribution to local residents and communities. Hosting well is measured not by visitor numbers but by how much income reaches the people.

Deputy Government Spokesperson Ploytale Laksamee Sangchan said the government, through the Ministry of Transport, has improved public transportation services starting from the airport, train station, and key city points. Forty-five shuttle buses will operate about 50 trips daily, from 07:00 to 20:00, to ensure convenient and safe travel for those visiting the World Horticultural Expo.
