The Prime Minister confirmed that Myanmar has been notified to increase caution and to avoid targeting the lives and property of citizens in both countries. He also instructed military commanders to avoid conflicts and clashes as much as possible to the greatest extent.
At 13:05 on 2 Nov 2026 at Nong Khai Hospital, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, addressed the opposition's call for an official government statement to Myanmar following the border fighting between Thailand and Myanmar, saying that the military and diplomatic channels are already handling the situation.
When asked about daily bombings and security agency directives, the Prime Minister said they are aware and have communicated with Myanmar's government, urging them to act without affecting Thailand. Last Saturday, the Supreme Commander and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sihasak Phuangketkaew, informed Myanmar’s government of Thailand’s concerns and requested careful action to avoid harming civilians and unrelated property in both countries.
Asked about Myanmar authorities’ response, the Prime Minister said they will invite Myanmar embassy officials to hear Thailand’s concerns, a step already undertaken by the Supreme Commander.
Asked if measures will intensify if the situation does not ease, the Prime Minister affirmed that Thailand is fully protecting its territory with increased patrol forces. He has instructed the Supreme Commander and military branch commanders to avoid clashes and conflicts as much as possible, since the fighting does not involve Thailand or its people. Thailand must defend its territory as effectively as possible. Some damage has been sustained, hence the warnings issued to Myanmar.
Regarding refugees from Myanmar fleeing the fighting into Thailand, the Prime Minister said this is a humanitarian issue. When conditions stabilize, there is a plan—not to forcibly push them back but to support voluntary returns. Most Myanmar nationals tend to return on their own, while those attempting to stay illegally will be deported according to the law.
On rumors that Myanmar soldiers threatened to destroy Thai warehouses if goods were sent to the KNU group, the Prime Minister said he has not heard of or received any confirmed reports about this.
