“Theng” Condemns Assault at UN, Emphasizes Migrant Workers Importance to Thai Economy

“Theng Natthapong” condemned the assault on a protest leader outside the UN, stressing that migrant workers are essential to Thailand’s economy. Their absence would certainly affect business operators and the Thai economy.

At 10:00 a.m. on 2 Nov 2026 GMT+7, at the parliament, Natthapong Ruangpanyawut, party-list MP and leader of the Prachachon Party, spoke after a shadow cabinet meeting. He condemned the assault on a protest leader representing migrant workers outside the United Nations office. The Prachachon Party’s position on managing migrant labor is: 1. It is undeniable that migrant workers are essential to Thailand’s economy; their absence would impact business operators and the economy for sure. 2. It is undeniable that managing migrant labor in Thailand suffers from leakage and corruption by government officials, especially in the registration process at the Certificate of Identity (CI) centers for foreign workers. The government’s negligence has opened the door for neighboring countries to exploit migrant labor in Thailand, which may violate Thailand’s sovereignty. 3. As long as domestic leakage issues persist, all Thais—including Thai workers, business operators, and migrant workers in Thailand—will be affected.
