Thanakorn Rebuts Natthapong: 44 MPs Case Is Their Own Doing, Not Judicial Warfare

Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana fired back at Natthapong Ruangpanyawut, saying the case involving 44 MPs is entirely their own doing. He mocked the idea of reading too many novels and accused Natthapong of hastily blaming the situation on judicial warfare. He affirmed that the government has no need to destroy political opponents and that ultimately, the Supreme Court is the authority to judge the matter.

On 2 Nov 2026, Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, party-list MP of Bhumjaithai Party and former Minister of Industry, spoke about Natthapong Ruangpanyawut, party-list MP and leader of the People's Party, who described the Supreme Court’s initial witness hearing in the case against 44 former MPs as judicial warfare aimed at political destruction. Thanakorn said Natthapong should accept the truth: this case originated from the former progressive MPs themselves who jointly proposed amending Criminal Code Section 112. The Constitutional Court ruled this amounted to using freedoms to overthrow the government, leading to investigation by the National Anti-Corruption Commission, which found serious ethical violations. Simply put, the House had already objected, yet the 44 former progressive MPs stubbornly refused to withdraw their bill. Thanakorn added that if one seeks public sympathy, one should tell the whole truth, adhere to correctness and the law, not just please one’s supporters, as that would distort the facts presented to society.

Thanakorn also said that although the legislature has the power to enact, repeal, or amend laws, it must operate within legal boundaries. While the constitution protects MPs’ duties, the 44 former progressive MPs knew well whether they exceeded their authority in this matter. Hence, while submitting a bill is a right of representatives, it does not mean they can propose anything without facing legal consequences, especially when widely criticized as potentially diminishing the institution’s protection.

"The government has no involvement or influence over independent organizations. All procedures follow lawful and proper processes. Under Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul’s leadership, there is no need to use laws to attack or destroy political opponents, particularly the People's Party. Everyone knows this is a purely personal matter. Stop reading too many novels and hallucinating judicial warfare. Ultimately, the Supreme Court has the authority to decide, and everyone is subject to the same law," Thanakorn said.
