Ponpi has ordered the Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration to investigate the financial transactions of the Boom Panadda foundation, emphasizing readiness to revoke it if funds are found to be misused. He noted that a committee has already been established to investigate a level-8 Ministry of Interior civil servant who may be involved in a land dispute concerning Boom's husband.
On 2 Nov 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Ponpi Suwanchawi, Deputy Minister of the Interior, spoke about the land dispute in Nakhon Nayok province involving Boom Panadda Wongpudee's husband. The encroached land is military territory and royal property under the Treasury Ministry's responsibility, which authorizes the Ministry of Defense to use it. The agencies responsible for filing legal complaints are therefore the Ministry of Defense or the Treasury Ministry. Regarding reports that a level-8 civil servant from the Ministry of Interior might be involved, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry has already appointed an investigation committee, and the provincial government has also set up a committee to investigate possible involvement of village heads and local leaders.
Regarding the foundation, I have already discussed with the Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration to check details about the source of funds, tax filings, and income. The Director-General will present these to me tomorrow. I believe if wrongdoing is found, it cannot be avoided. If foundation funds were misused—such as transferring money to private entities and those entities transferring it back—the financial trail seen in the media depends on how Boom Panadda will explain it. I emphasize that details should be clear by tomorrow; if violations exist, appropriate actions will follow.
When asked further about the Ministry of Interior's authority if fund misuse is confirmed, Mr. Ponpi said there is already a revocation process. As for legal proceedings, the Director-General is reviewing whether the Ministry holds such authority. However, we will not stop here. Many foundations and organizations receive donations from the public, so transparency is essential. As the government agency overseeing foundations and registrations, the Ministry of Interior must monitor foundations' activities and investigate any irregularities. If any are found, actions must be taken.
