Suriya Praises All Parties for Timely Creation of Udon Thani International Horticultural Expo, Pleased with First Days Better-than-Expected Response

Suriya praised all parties for collaboratively bringing the "Udon Thani International Horticultural Expo" to fruition on time. He expressed satisfaction with the first day's response, which exceeded expectations, with nearly 9,000 visitors. He projected economic turnover of no less than 20 billion baht.

On 2 Nov 2026 GMT+7, Suriya Juangroongruangkit, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, stated that the 2026 Udon Thani International Horticultural Expo, held at the Nong Daeng wetland area, deserved praise for the Department of Agriculture and all involved parties who worked tirelessly to successfully organize this world-class event on schedule despite a tight preparation period. The expo gathered beautiful plants and ornamental flowers from around the globe in one place, allowing local residents and tourists to experience the wonders of international nature without traveling abroad.

The first-day response (1 Nov 2026 GMT+7), with nearly 9,000 visitors, suggests that tourist numbers will likely grow significantly from this point forward, especially following the official opening ceremony chaired by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul today, as well as the upcoming cabinet meeting tomorrow, which will continue to attract both domestic and international tourists. The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, through the Department of Agriculture, has collaborated with the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) to jointly promote the event on the global stage. The ministry aims to generate economic turnover and spending throughout the more than four-month event period of at least 20 billion baht, viewing it as a worthwhile investment to stimulate the economy, trade, and tourism in Udon Thani province and the Northeastern region. They also expressed confidence that this event's success will be a key driver for future international horticultural expos in Nakhon Ratchasima province.

Regarding the upcoming cabinet meeting in Udon Thani province on 3 Nov 2026 GMT+7, the Agriculture Minister stated that the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives has not proposed any special projects or requested additional budget because all agencies have already allocated and prepared to carry out their missions according to the plan comprehensively and thoroughly.
