“Ramadan” demands answers in the case of four youths shot in Narathiwat; more than two months have passed with no progress, raising questions about government and security agencies’ neglect of the case.
On 2 Nov 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Ramadan Panjor, party-list MP for the Prachachon Party, revealed updates on the case of four youths shot in Narathiwat, with suspicion they were fired upon from a helicopter the night of the incident. He said over two months have passed without clarifying the facts, while proposals for the government to establish an impartial fact-finding committee remain stagnant. The relevant security agencies have yet to provide clarity to the public.
“The burden now rests with the justice system, currently in the hands of the investigators. I have been monitoring this case regularly. The shooting of the four Narathiwat youths is criminal case number 87/2569. Most recently, I was informed by the Narathiwat police commander that the forensic results have been returned to the provincial security investigation team,” Mr. Ramadan said, adding.
Key evidence includes 5.56 mm bullet fragments found at the scene and bullet remnants extracted from one of the youths shot that night. He was informed that the investigation committee will meet this week to finalize the case file and urged the public to closely follow the progress.
Meanwhile, in parliament, the issue was raised in the military commission, which is awaiting flight records from relevant agencies to confirm whether any aircraft flew that night, and to review any flight notifications or reports submitted. The necessary documents for this inquiry have not yet been provided.
Mr. Ramadan also revealed that since the incident, the victims have not received any aid or compensation, only periodic updates from investigators.
“The mystery surrounding such a significant event remains, and resolving it benefits no one. Unraveling these issues is crucial,” Mr. Ramadan said, noting the lack of attention from Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and security agencies, despite the necessity of a transparent and impartial investigation to build trust in the justice system.
