Government Reveals TAT Transforms “Mega Event” into “Mega Opportunity” Using Cabinet Meeting and 2026 Udon Thani World Horticultural Expo

The government reveals that the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is transforming a “Mega Event” into a “Mega Opportunity” by utilizing the traveling Cabinet meeting and the 2026 Udon Thani World Horticultural Expo to create new demand and promote Udon Thani as a tourist destination, enhancing its profile.

On 3 Nov 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Ploytale Laksameesangchan, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, announced that TAT is advancing its efforts by using the platform of the 2nd traveling Cabinet meeting of 2026 and the 2026 Udon Thani World Horticultural Expo to raise awareness, expand outreach, and transform “visibility” into “inspiration to travel” to Udon Thani province.

Over the three days from 1–3 Nov 2026 GMT+7, TAT carried out strategic marketing promotions through influencer marketing with the Deputy Spokesperson’s team from the Prime Minister's Office, aiming to boost tourism and grassroots economy in Udon Thani. The campaign featured a One Day Trip route called “Udon Thani: Bloom, Weave & Vibe,” inviting travelers to experience the charm and identity of Udon Thani through Thai-Chinese cultural tourism and traditional community weaving, revitalizing Thai textiles and supporting the local economy.

On 2 Nov 2026 GMT+7, TAT participated in the opening ceremony of the “2026 Udon Thani World Horticultural Expo” held at the Nong Daed Wetlands in Mueang District, under the theme “Diversity of Life: Connecting People, Water, and Plants for Sustainable Living.” TAT set up a tourism promotion exhibition at the entrance and ticketing area, highlighting the “5 Must Do in Udon Thani” concept. The experience included the Must Taste menu featuring “Miang Kleep Bua” at a dinner event for the Cabinet members.

On 3 Nov 2026 GMT+7, TAT escorted Ms. Supachai Suthamphan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, to visit the “Red Lotus Sea” tourist site to enhance natural tourism potential and elevate it towards innovative tourism goals. This aims to create economic opportunities and increase income for local residents. During the traveling Cabinet meeting venue, TAT organized tourism promotional activities based on the “5 Must Do in Udon Thani” concept, decorating its booth to showcase the province's appeal through diverse tourism activities, including:

- Must Taste: Sampling Udon’s salted milk ice cream and Red Lotus tea from Ban Chiang Wa in Kumphawapi District.

- Must Try: Experiencing sustainable Isan lifestyle tourism.

- Must Buy: Purchasing handicraft souvenirs showcasing traditional wisdom.

- Must Seek: Capturing memorable photos at Udon Thani’s tourist spots alongside mascots “Nong Sukjai” and “Nong Rakyim.”

- Must See: Exploring perspectives through stories of traditions, lifestyles, and arts and culture.

At the booth, fresh salted milk ice cream and Red Lotus tea from Ban Chiang Wa were served to the Prime Minister and Cabinet members, allowing them to savor flavors unique to Udon Thani.

“The government believes that the 2nd official traveling Cabinet meeting of 2026 and the 2026 Udon Thani World Horticultural Expo will mark an important milestone to drive balanced and sustainable growth in Thailand’s tourism economy,” said the spokesperson. Ms. Ploytale concluded.
